The methods of prototype grinding

Grinding is a part of surface treatment in the process of prototype making. Generally, prototypes need to be grinded after they are machined, because there will be some burrs and knife marks on the surface of prototype. There’re different grades of sandpaper. The smaller grade, the thicker the sand, the bigger the grade, and the smaller the sand. What are the methods of prototype grinding?            
1. Mechanical grinding: If a large area of prototype needs grinding, in order to improve work efficiency, mechanical grinding methods can be used, such as electric grinder,via disc type or vibration type.            
2. Dry grinding: Sandpaper grinding is suitable for grinding hard and brittle lacquer. Its disadvantage is that a lot of dust will be produced during operation, which will affect environment.            
3. Wet grinding: grinding with sand paper dipped in water or soap water, water grinding can reduce wear marks, improve the smoothness of the coating, and save sandpaper and labor. After water grinding, it is necessary to wait until the water grinding layer is completely dry before applying the lower layer of paint. Otherwise, the paint layer will easily become white.            
4. Light polishing: Painting requirements are marked as "light polishing", for example, after sealing paint, partial repair, etc., in that case finer sandpaper and skilled worker should be chosen to carry out.
