Manufacturing process of replica prototype


The prototype plays a key role in the product development stage to verify whether the design of the product is right. In prototying industry, duplicate die is one of the prototype processing methods. It is mainly used for small batch production. Its advantages are fast time, low cost, excellent market competitive advantage and duplicate die. The materials of prototype are ABS, PP, PC, acrylic, soft rubber and silicone rubber, etc. We will introduce the specific process of making compound prototype.
1. Before making silica gel mould, we need to make an original version, which can be made by CNC processing or 3D printing. Silica gel and curing agent are stirred evenly. The appearance of the mould silica gel is flowing liquid, component A is silica gel, component B is curing agent.

2. Vacuum exhaust foam treatment: after mixing the silica gel and curing agent evenly, the vacuum exhaust foam link should be carried out. Normally, the vacuum time should not exceed 10 minutes, otherwise the silica gel solidifies immediately, resulting in cross-linking reaction, which makes the silica gel become one piece and can not be painted or poured.

3. Brushing process: the silicone gel that evacuates the air through the bubbles is painted or poured. Pour it on top of the product (Note: The product or model to be duplicated before pouring silica gel must be stripped or insulated). Then the silica gel is applied to the product. The coating must be uniform. After 30 minutes, a layer of yarn weft cloth is pasted to increase the strength and tension of the silica gel.

4.External die making: The general method and material used is to surround the die with plywood or wooden boards and fill the die cabinet with gypsum. Another way is to use resin brushing to paste a layer of fiberglass cloth with a layer of resin, then brush and paste again. Repeated two or three layers can complete the exterior die.

5.The operation method of the filling or pouring mould: the filling or pouring mould is used for smooth or simple products. Without the mould line, it saves labour and time. It is to pour the vacuum-pumped silica gel directly into the product and take out the product after the silica gel is dried and moulded. (Note: The softer silica gel is generally used in the pouring mould, so that demoulding is easier, will not damage the products inside the silica gel mold.
